- Scripture:
We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible, and authoritative Word of God; the only infallible rule of faith and practice; the supreme and final authority on all matters on which it speaks.
- God
We believe in one God, infinite, eternal, perfect, unchanging, and self-existing, in one nature and three equally divine Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who are equal in power and glory, and who are to be equally loved, honored, and adored. This one God is alone the true and only God.
- Jesus Christ
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is both true God and true man, two natures united in one Person. We believe in His virgin birth; His sinless and perfect life; His miracles; His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood; His bodily resurrection; His ascension to the right hand of the Father as our High Priest, Mediator and righteous Advocate; and His personal return in power and glory. And we believe that salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.
- Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is truly God, equal with the Father and the Son, and has been sent by the Father and the Son to glorify Jesus Christ and apply the saving work of Christ to our hearts. He convicts us of sin and draws us to the Savior. He instructs and guides us into all truth, and seals us for the day of redemption. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit in the lives of Christians by whose indwelling they are enabled to live a godly life. By the Spirit’s agency, believers are renewed, sanctified, and adopted into God’s family and receive His sovereignly distributed gifts.
- Man
We believe that God created human beings, male and female, in His own image. We believe that all men are sinners by nature; dead in their trespasses and sins; and deserve the wrath and punishment of God for their sins. All mankind participated in Adam’s (who was a real person) fall from his original sinless state and is thus lost in sin and totally helpless. The supreme need of all mankind is to be reconciled to the God under whose just and holy wrath they stand. The only hope of all men is the undeserved love and grace of this same God, who alone can rescue us and restore us to Himself.
- Salvation
We believe that the Sovereign God, for no other reason than His own unfathomable love and mercy, has chosen lost sinners from every nation to be redeemed by the quickening power of the Holy Spirit and through the atoning death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ.
We believe that, from all eternity God determined by grace to save a great multitude of guilty sinners that no man can number and to this end chose them, and that God justifies and sanctifies those who by His grace have faith in Jesus, and that He will one day glorify them. In love God commands and implores all people to repent and believe, having set His saving love on those He has chosen and having ordained Christ to be their Redeemer.
We believe that, being estranged from God and condemned by our sinfulness, our salvation is wholly dependent upon the work of God’s free grace, and it is absolutely essential for sinners to be regenerated by the Holy Spirit for them to repent and believe the gospel. Only such as are elect and born of the Holy Spirit and receive Jesus Christ become children of God, heirs of eternal life, and will persevere to the end.
- Justification
We believe in justification by faith through grace alone, and through it the undeserving sinner is clothed with the righteousness of Christ. It is an act of God’s free grace, wherein He forgives all our sins, and accepts us as righteous in His sight. We believe justification by faith alone is the chief article of a true church.
- Sanctification
We believe sanctification is an ongoing process, by God’s free grace and dependent on God’s continuing action in the believer. It consists of the believer’s continuous struggle against sin, knowing that without Christ’s enabling we cannot do good works, but also that He is ready to strengthen us for all we have to do. By His grace we are renewed in the whole man after the image of God and are enabled more and more to die unto sin and live unto righteous. The goal of sanctification is holiness, good works, and service for the glory of God.
- Evangelism
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ commands all believers to proclaim the gospel to all men everywhere and make disciples of all nations in obedience to the Great Commission. The supreme object of the work of evangelism is to glorify God.
- The Church
We believe the true Church is composed of all persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ alone and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit are united together in the body of Christ. The Church finds her visible yet imperfect expression in local congregations where the Word of God is preached in its purity, the sacraments are administered in their integrity, scriptural discipline is practiced, and a loving fellowship is maintained. We believe in the spiritual unity of all true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.
- Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
We believe that baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the only two sacraments ordained by the Lord Jesus. The former is connected with entrance into the new covenant community, the latter with ongoing covenant renewal. They are God’s pledge to us, as divinely ordained means of grace, of His love and care for us, and our anticipation of His return.
- Heaven and Hell
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost. The saved are raised to a resurrection of life and the lost are raised to resurrection of damnation. At death the Christian’s soul passes immediately into the presence of God and the unbeliever’s soul is eternally separated from God unto condemnation.
- Jesus’ Return
We believe in the personal, glorious, and bodily return of our Lord Jesus Christ at a time when He is not expected, when He will exercise His role as final Judge to consummate history and the eternal plan of God.
